I really love making lists and goals, but I tend to forget about them. I’m hoping by making up this list and puting it here on my blog, it’ll help with that. If not, at least it’ll be easy to look back at it and see what still needs to be done.
Number 1. Set aside time every day to read. I’ve been in a half slump for a while now. By that, I mean that I’ve been reading but it hasn’t been going great and I feel like I’m one bad book from a full-on slump. I haven’t been reading as much as I would like to. And that mainly has to do with the fact that I don’t read every day and I don’t make myself read every day. I’m pretty sure that anybody who has made a “how to read more” list, has said that you need to set aside time every day to read. So that’s what I’m going to do.
Number 2. Practice Korean every day. This probably sounds like a weird goal to put on this list, since I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned on my blog that I’m learning Korean. I’ve taken a class and it taught me the basics, but after the class ended I kind of just put it on the back-burner. I haven’t made it a priority to learn more of the language. And I don’t want to forget everything I’ve learned, even if it is just the basics. So, I need to set time aside every day to practice Korean in someway. That might mean using my Korean textbook and workbook, or reading passages, or practicing my pronunciation. I have a lot of options so it shouldn’t be too difficult to keep at it.
Number 3. Read nonfiction. I had a few nonfiction books on my 2019 TBR. (I filmed a video talking about all the books I wanted to read this year. Check it out here!) I’ve only read one nonfiction book this year and that was just last month. Plus, it had a lot of pictures so it wasn’t too hard to get through and it only took me a few hours in total. Anyways. I want to read more nonfiction since it’s a genre that I really do enjoy and that I’ve been ignoring for a while.
Number 4. Edit photos in a timely manner. I’ve been working on my photography and I’ve been taking a lot of pictures when I’m able to, but I’m not confident in my editing skills and so I tend to put off trying to edit any of the photos I take. (That, and also I’m too lazy to do it lol.) I need to get into the habit of transferring the photos as soon as possible and, if not editing right away, then going through them and taking out ones that aren’t good. This will obviously help me out in the long run since I won’t have a huge amount of photos to go through every single time.
Number 5. Read these books! Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy; The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon; A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro; The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman; Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor; R is for Rebel by J. Anderson Coats; Hild by Nicola Griffith; Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. These are all books that I’ve started and haven’t finished. Obviously, I need to read them. They’re haunting me.
So these are just a few of the things that I’d like to do for the rest of the year. I’m hoping I can be more productive and actually achieve these goals. Wish me luck!
Did you make goals in the beginning of the year? Are you still on track? Or do you need to make a few new ones like I did? Best of luck to all of you with your goals this next half of the year! 🙂
